LETS INCREASE OUR INCOME BY A $1000 A MONTH THAT IS A GRAND A MONTH

If you read my blog you already know hubby and I are semi retired. The semi part is we are always looking for ways to make money on the side to suppliment our income. After all social security and pension plans do not go as far as you would hope. Lesson learned we did not save enough while young so I hope all of you save more and spend less on your journey to retirement.

This morning while reading some of my favorite blogs I saw that Mom's Plans had written a post on making an extra $1,000 a month. After reading further I see that she along with two other bloggers are starting a new site on making a GRAND a month. I look forward to postings to see what others are up to.

Hubby and earn extra money every month buying and selling items on eBay, Amazon and in our booths at the Antique stores. Of course there is the costs to do business this way. Cost of goods , fees at the Internet sites and rental fees at the antique stores. The real test is when hubby does end of the year books so we can file our taxes on this income.

And of course I make a little money with my blogs. Little is the key word but I only do this as a hobby and not full time as others.

My goal is to increase our income by $1,000 a month after all the fees and costs this next year. Time will tell as the months go buy. I hope to share some of this information with you in the months to come.

Antique store #2 is doing better than Antique store #1, but in store #2 I have items out on some shelfs and floor space plus a locked case. Antique store #1 is a locked case only. I do believe this is a important key to success.

We have reopened our eBay store this month. This allows us to put items on eBay for 30 days at only 20 cents a month rather than the 50 cents it was costing us. We no longer get 50 free auctions a month but in the end if we list more it will pay for itself in the difference of fees. The store also allows us extra pictures at no extra costs.

I am hoping all the extra work these last months that our income will continue to increase. I hope that you will continue to vistit my site and watch for postings on our journey buying and selling. My sons say we are pickers and in truth we are.

Thanks for stopping by and lets keep saving together.. Grace

SAVED QUARTER CHALLENGE # 11 INCREASING INTERNET SALES

Savings Challenge update #11 ... this last week we have been working to increase our Internet sales by going out and hunting more often. We have found a few fairly good books and have been busy putting them up for sale. Some have already sold already. Here are some fun cook books we found this week end at an estate sale.

They all have been listed for auction on eBay, so hopefully we will sell some or all of them.

We had a total of 7 sales this week on eBay and Amazon which brought in $85.00 before fees and cost. Here are just two of the books we sold.

This money will be spent looking for more items to sell and some will go into savings.

It has and will be a tough couple of months. We just spent money from savings to fix our brakes and the van is still may need some work. Taxes are due in less than a month and there is some shortness there.

So motto around here is work work hunt hunt and sell sell.

How did your week go with making more money or saving money.
I will be sharing this over at Savings Quarter Challenge

WALLET FRIENDLY WEDNESDAY.. Searching the thrift stores for treasures

Yesterday we stopped by the thrift store to see if they had any new books or what ever for us to resell on eBay or Amazon.

Not alot was found but I did find two desirable vintage cookbooks.

The first and best is " Love and Knishes How To Cook Like A Jewish Mother" by Sara Kasdan. I searched on Amazon and it was well worth the 75 cents I paid for it. I will put up for sale for around $15.00, but first I will have to try some of the recipes. The potato soup will probably be first.

The second vintage cook book was " The I Hate To Cook Book" by Peg Bracken. I will probably start around $5.00 or so and well worth once again the 75 cents I paid.

Third was a vintage Landmark book hubby found to try and sell.

Plus it was Tuesday .. senior day so I got a small discount on these prices.
I will be sharing this at

Saved Quarter Week # 6 Sold Some STUFF On Ebay and Amazon

Week 6 of Saved Quarter Challenge.. another week of not saving anything from my grocery budget. This week what I did not spend on groceries was spent on buying STUFF to sell on eBay and or amazon.

We went to a couple of estate sales and I found some vintage Tupperware to sell. Also found some Janette Oke books that should sell on eBay. 8 hard covers 2 stories in each book so here series right her in 8 books. She writes Christian romance novels.

They are up for sale as are some old tool books I found in the basement.
So far we have one bid on my Tupperware, the measuring cups and spoons.
$32.00 of the money spent had to come from next weeks money for groceries.

yellow canister set

orange canister set

also found green canister set plus other Tupperware items

measuring cups and spoons have a bid already.
I bought lots of Tupperware so hopefully I will be able replace the money spent, have extra to put into the envelope for buying STUFF and put some to savings.

We try to go to the estate sale the first day and buy what we think may not be there the next day. If there is items we want to buy cheaper we will go the last day and buy items at half price. Some times we win and some times we do not win by playing the waiting game.

Last week I sold Campbell soup rewards and rewards for education on eBay plus one book on Amazon for a total profit of $7.67 from both places.
This money will go towards replacing next weeks grocery money that I spent.

Good news is some of my granddaughter's Manga books sold. I had listed these Super Bowl Sunday night. One set sold for way over $100. I have a total of over $200 to give her minus my eBay selling costs.

Just need to get paid for all her books from the buyers, so I can give her money to her.

She says she wants to save some and buy some clothes.. Way to go girl save some and buy clothes. I am so proud of you. Plus I sure will have my eyes open for these books.

Well that is how my week went for the Savings Quarter Challenge. A profit of $7.67.
I will be sharing this over at Savings Quarter Challenge.

Thrift Store Hunting Today Found 2 Vintage Cookbooks

Today hubby and went to one of two thrift stores in our town. We were out on an adventure looking for items to sell either on eBay or Amazon.

Pickings were slim today. All I came up with were two vintage cookbooks, one being a church spiral which are popular on eBay.

We passed on some items because they were to pricey or condition not good enough.
Secret is to keep our eyes open at all times, we never know what we will find.
We normally specialize in books but I am always on the out look for anything that I think I can sell.

When selling books it is important to watch for condition, price or rarity. This is the only way to have any success with sales on eBay and Amazon.

I love our cell phones they allow us to get on the Internet while out shopping. Gives us a head up on whether the item is a good buy.

When we are looking at books all we need to do is go to amazon and put the ISBN number in the search engine. One click and we know whether to buy or not.

Do you sell on eBay to earn extra income? Do you want to sell on the Internet?

Start by looking on eBay with things you may have in your home that you no longer want or need.

Do you have any old Barney VHS, if so check out the titles some are worth some money while others are not.

How about Weight Watchers Slow cooker cookbook. That is a popular item.

Tonight I will send up some vintage patterns that I picked up at an estate sale. A couple years ago I found an old pattern and ended up selling it for over $80.00. I have to admit it was a Ceil Chapman, but when I picked it up at an estate sale I had no idea. Boy was I in for a surprise.
If you have any stories that you want to share I would love to hear them. By sharing we can only help each other in our search to bring in more income selling on the Internet.
Want to find thrift stores in your area go here. Today I went there for the first time since we moved back to Minnesota and found there are thrift stores over in Wisconsin. No far for us to drive. Will be checking them out soon.

Thanks for stopping by... lets keep saving together... Grace

Wallet Friendly Wednesday 1/26/11 Going Out Of Business Sale plus Hunting For Books

Wallet-Friendly Wednesday Welcome to Wallet Friendly Wednesday

Hello everyone, hope everyone is having a good Wednesday. The weather is in the 20's so not bad.

Was sunny this morning so hubby and I went out to see if a second hand bookstore was open. NO it was not. It is part of a church and run by volunteers. Must not have enough volunteers because hard to find it open and I do not have a direct phone number to check to see if open.

On the way to the book store we spotted that a drug store was going out of business. Of course we had to stop to see what was on sale.

We bought three 99 cent birthday cards at half price for grandchildren. I have been wanting a new hair curler and found a Vidal Sassoon styling iron marked down. Was originally $7.99 and marked down 20 percent.

This last weekend stopped at some thrift stores hunting for books to selling on eBay or/and Amazon. Some of these have already been put up for auction on eBay and the others will follow. We usually try the auction method one or two times. If the item does not sell then they go to 30 days on eBay and on to Amazon. One of hubby's book finds already has a bid.
