Today we are making Coconut Chews.. I love coconut
1/4 cup butter or other shortening
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 cup graduated sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 Baker's coconut
5 cups Post toasties
Or use 5 cups of Grape nut flakes, Post 40% Bran Flakes or Post Raisin Bran
Cream butter, add sugars gradually and cream together until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat
well. Add nuts , coconut and cereal and mix thoroughly. ( Mixture will be dry. ) Shape into rounds
by pressing mixture by tablespoonfuls against side of bowl. Drop carefully on lightly greased baking
sheets and bake in moderate oven (350 degree ) 10 minutes or until done. Remove at once from
baking sheet. Makes 36 chews.

Lets Make Some Cookies 1956 Recipe From General Foods Day 7 Raisin Butter Cookies
Lets get back into the kitchen and get some cookies baked for our family parties.
Raisin Butter Cookies
1 cup butter or other shortening
dash of salt
34 cup sifted confectioners sugar
1 1/4 tsp vanilla
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 cup Post Raisin Bran or use 1 cup of Toasties, Post 40 % Bran Flakes or Grape Nut flakes
and add 1/4 cup of raisins
Cream Butter, add salt and confectioners sugar gradually , and cream until light and fluffy. Add
vanilla, then add the flour and mix well. Stir in the cereal. Shape cooky dough into small balls (
about 1 inch diameter) and place on ungreased baking sheet. Flatten with fork. Bake in moderate
oven (375 degree) 12 to 15 minutes or until done.
While warm sprinkle with additional confectioners sugar.
