Decorating With Garage Sale Finds Signed Numbered Cat Prints Hasso

I love to garage sale and go to auctions and estate sales. This is a perfect way to decorate

your home on the thrifty side

So much better than shopping the large box stores where there are several of the same prints in piles.

Chances my friends will not have the same pictures hanging on their wall.

Hubby and I found these two prints that are signed and numbered last fall and today we got out the

hammer and found the perfect place for them.

They are near the front door and visible from my desk in the office. Every time I look up

they are what I see.  Purchase price $20.00 Meow to saving dollars.

Artist name looks like Hasso

Decorating On The Frugal Side Hunting For Treasures

Good morning everyone hope that your end of year is going good, safe and full of time with family and friends.

I always love to read about decorating my small little apartment. 5 Ideas to Decorate a Small Apartment on a Dime by Emily Co. My apartment is small but not as small as some but small.
What I do have is a fantastic view of Lake Superior from the living room, our office and our bedroom.
Unbelieveable, every morning I pull up the shade and am amazed at the beauty that is before me.
I love to go to auctions, estate sales and garage sales not only to find items to resell but items to put into my home.

For $4.00 at a moving sale we added these two nautical pillows to our bed. Since we love the nautical feeling they were a perfect buy.

Hope that you all have a wonderful day.. Grace

one of the thrift stores we will visit today.. love the reading chairs

For most of my life I have owned a home or condo. The last few years we have been apartment dewellers. There are so many things you can not do usually when you are renting an apartment. This morning I went to swag to do a search on decorating apartments a thrifty way. I came up with this link. Frugal thrifty apartment decorating ideas
Take a moment and look through the ideas. I love the use of blue, the curtains letting in the light and the rug on top of carpet. This can be found at 10 ways to customize a rental.

Lots of fun things to look at. I have just begun to look around, but for the moment I am off to the thrift store to look for treasures.

See you later.. thanks for stopping by.. and please remember. Never under estimate the value of a small amount of money.. Grace

Crafty Ideas for Decorating Our Homes

Saving money can go beyond using coupons at the store. Finding great deals at the restaurants, watching for sales at the stores and so on. There is also great ways to decorate our homes on the thrift. I am a thrift store shopper and a garage sale lover, but tonight while wandering around on my normal blog reading I was directed to a crafty blog and the ideas this lady comes up are fantastic.
I will be adding a link to her blog on my sight so I remember to check her out again. Tonight I read how she made a bath mat out of wine corks and a lamp shade out of Tulle material. She sees these ideas in a magazine and then comes up with her own method.
Take a moment and read her posts. http://www.craftynest.com/
If you find any other sights that are similar I would love to hear from you.
I love unique ideas for my home, something that is different from everyone else .
Hope you enjoy ..

Decorating The Thrifty Way

I was in need of some new chair cushions, mine were faded and falling apart from being on the deck in California. I had to go to Walmart to pick up medicine and while heading to the cards to pick up a birthday card for granddaughter Dani I spotted these cushions. They have pretty colorful roosters on them and I collect roosters. My love of chickens and roosters started years ago.
My only memory of my patenal grandfather Perry was visiting him in Washington state. I got up early every day and would help him collect eggs. One day about 25 years ago I went to an estate sale and spotted a matching rooster and chicken. I had to buy them, since then I have bought a couple more plus my cookie jar is a rooster and makes a lot of noise when I take off the lid.
Well back to Walmart, they had 4 cushions and a matching table cloth, plus matching place mats. So here is my pretty new table cloth and chair cushions and in the kitchen my small appliances rest on pretty place mats. They were on sale at $9.00 each ,the table cloth was marked down to $5.00 and the placemates were $1.50 each on sale. Total $44.00 plus tax out of pocket.
I need to move a few things around so there are pretty dishes and my chickens on the book case behind the table. The collection of books will go on another bookcase.
So the old chair cushions are gone, except for the one Spooky the cat lays on.
What are you doing to decorate your home on a budget. Would love to hear your ideas.

Thrift Shopping Is An Adventure

staskym shared with me that she uses this internet site http://www.thethriftshopper.com/

I have had this site on my favorites list and used it when we lived in California and even used it when we were traveling in our motor home.
I search the thrift stores mainly to find items to sell on my ebay site http://stores.ebay.com/TurnAbout01 and on amazon and abe.

This is one way we suppliment our income since our retirement income does not cover all our basic needs.

This is one of my favorite finds recently. Hubby said why are you buying those pictures. I told him I loved them and if they don't sell we can turn our bedroom in " French Romance". He just rolls his eyes at me. The one thing we do not really need is Art work. Well I am happy to say I listed them and sold them for a nice profit.

Thift stores are a great place to change the decor of your home, find an outfit almost new and of course books and movies.

Why buy new when you can find used in wonderful shape. Of course there are things I will never buy used. But there are so many items I buy at a thrift store, garage sale or estate sale.

I love looking for ways to saving money on my groceries and eating out. Hope that I can be helping you as I help my household
