Making a Stop at Randalls Tonight

Stopped at Randalls tonight for my weekly rotisserie chicken. They have coke products on sale at $1.99 each buy 3 get 3 free which makes them $1.00 each. I picked up six of them and had a coupon to SAVE $1.00 off my chicken when I bought a bottle of coke.

Also picked up 2 Blue Bunny Ice cream gallon size . On sale $3.99 each

Added some cascade on sale which I had a 25 cent coupon for which was doubled.

I had 2 free coupons for M and M's . They had buy 2 get 1 FREE which means I got all three FREE.

Total out of pocket was $23.88 .. bank rounds up to $29.00 and they put the 12 cents into my savings account. I know it is only 12 cents but it all adds up. ...

My savings at Randalls was a total of $18.50 or 45 percent. Of this savings coupon savings was $2.74.

What if I put that $2.74 into my savings account.

Tonight I transfered $2.75.( coupon savings ). My savings balance is now $55.73. Started out at $20.00 and with keep the change and Bank matching that amount for first three months it has more than doubled.

I plan to start putting my coupon savings amount into my savings account and to put my rebates into the bank.

Living Within A Budget and Saving For A Car

We have been listening to David Ramsey for a few months and working at living on a budget. We are now on a cash budget. No credit cards. http://beta.daveramsey.com/

Every month we have a set income coming in and every month we have a set budget going out.

Once the food money is gone for the week the food money is gone. Gas sometimes runs over the budget. I have it at $25 a week and I probably have it to low. There is no extra money to raise this amount so if we need an extra $5 or $10 it it comes from the food allowance. Our food allowance of $125 a week covers food, paper products, personal products, cat food and miscellaneous items. This money also covers any money for eating out.

When we do eat out we try to eat at lunch time since it is cheaper, usually drink only water instead of buying sodas and we try to use coupons most of the time.

Since I have started to use coupons heavier, started my blog and read other bloggers I now have a full pantry of food, eating out less and starting to save.

We aim to bring in extra money every month working extra hours. Any extra money we make goes into a savings account so we can buy a used car.

We also want to have a $1,000 in a savings account for emergencies. We have opened a bank account at a bank that rounds our purchases up to the next dollar and puts the change into a savings account. This way we are saving something. My plan also is to put any refunds I get into the savings account rather than add to food budget or just spend on what ever.

We have been on this plan since May and for the most part it has been working. We have a small amount in the bank towards a car, we are not using credit cards for any reason and we are starting to save.

My goal is to build up these savings accounts and to find things around the home to sell to help.

I have an Internet business and hope to increase this income.

A brand name bank opened up in the neighborhood and offered $125.00 cash incentive to open up a Free checking account. I had been planning to open an extra account for my Internet business to keep money separate. I will need to use this account a minimum of 5 times a month with my debit card, keep it open for at least 6 months. I will get this $125.00 after I use the debit card 5 times. in a month.

Sounded like a good deal to me, I want another checking account, want it free and I use debit cards for most of my purchases. This $125 will be put into the car account as soon as I get it. This should happen within 2 weeks.

I would love to hear from any of you and how you are working to live within a budget and save money rather than spend all you make .

What's For Dinner Homemade Chicken Vegetable Soup

I love great deals and when I can get canned soups free or nearly free I grabbed them for a quick lunch. But nothing but nothing beats our homemade Chicken Vegetable Soup.
We buy 1 rotisserie Chicken every week for dinner, sandwiches and as a treat for Spooky the spoiled cat. Really it is for her and she shares.
We are nearing fall so felt like home made soup. Had my dh boil up the bones and make me broth.
Couple of days later time to throw together our soup.
To the broth we add some chicken, 1 small can of chopped Tomatoes, 1/2 tsp of salt , 1 tsp of pepper and a tsp of a mixture of onion and garlic. Let that simmer. Mean time I cook up 1 cup of macaroni shell, drain and add. I know that some think you can cook pasta in soup but I think it soaks up to much of my broth. 20 minutes before we plan to eat we throw in about 1/2 bag of mixed vegetables.
Delicious and we always get 2 good meals out of this. Just add crackers or some rolls.

I love Free Samples.. today it was a free sample of Honey Nut Cheerios in the mail box.

Walmart Shopping and My Lipton Ice Tea Purchase

My shopping trip was great, picked up all the groceries shown in picture. This includes the Hamburger Helper and Honey Bunches of Oat previous posted. They also had Lipton Ice Tea to Go that I have a rebate for. I found the rebate a couple of weeks ago at Randalls.

The Lipton Ice Tea to Go was $1.88 a box 10 pack ( cheaper than I saw at another store). I bought 3 boxes as needed and I had 2 coupons that totaled $1.50 off the 3 boxes.

The 3 boxes cost $5.64 minus $1.50 in coupons . My oop was $4.14. When I mail in my proofs and receipt for my rebate, I will received a $5.00 check. Making this a Money Maker and FREe Ice Tea To Go.

My total out of pocket for everything was $24.51 plus tax. After coupons I saved 23 percent. Plus I will a check for $5.00 mailed to me.

Walmart Honey Bunch Of Oats for 34 cents

Went to Walmart and picked up my Honey Bunch of Oats. It had been reported that they were $2.00 a box but my Walmart had marked to $2.34. I printed my coupon and was able to buy a box for 34 cents.

Hamburger Helper 50 cents A Box At Walmart

While at Walmart I check out the Hamburger Helper ( easy basic dish for a quick dinner). They were priced over $1.00 a box but when I got to the back aisle of the food I saw a shelf of them marked down to 50 cents a box. All dated till 2010 so lots of shelf life.

I had my coupons with me for 75 cents off 3 boxes which brings to 25 cents a box.

The selection was only about 4 types but that was fine with me.

I snapped up 9 boxes to add to my stock pile at home of Hamburger Helper.

Free Flu Shots at CVS in Minnesota for unemployed

Minneapolis Minnesota paper reported that CVS to give free flu shots to Minn. unemployed.
Maybe this will happen around the country. If you are unemployed check out at your local CVS if they are taking part in this great gesture for those in need.

Randalls Doubling Coupons Another Week

I went shopping at Randall's yesterday and my coupons doubled. Looks like we are getting another week of that. Great time to shop for items on sale.

They have a deal on Progresso Soup at $1.00 a can when you buy 4 cans.

Loading Coupons To My Store Card Wow How Great

I finally got with it and loaded cards to my Randall's and Kroger's card from Cellfire. Not difficult to do, but hard for an old girl to get with the new ways of couponing.

I matched a loaded coupon for Pillsbury with a printed coupon and matched it with a marked down item and really saved.
I bought 2 Pillsbury Biscuits for $2.98 normally $3.98 for 2 they gave me e coupon twice of $1.00. All is new to me so not sure if I got $1.00 of each from cellfire or if I had also loaded the same coupon from shortcuts. This brought the 2 biscuits to 98 cents. I also had a printed coupon for a dollar off 2 so these ended up free.
With the crescent rolls they were 49 cents more so I did the exact same type of coupons and these 2 cost me 49 cents.
Like I said this all new to me but I sure enjoyed this. These were part of my last trip to Randalls that I posted about already.

Twenty Dollar Shopping Trip Week 2 Finalized

Went to Randall's today to get milk and bread and a chicken. I had loaded Pillsbury coupons to my Randall's card earlier in the week. Randalls had some Pillsbury rolls marked down today. Not all are marked down that I can see. I picked up 2 Pillsbury grand biscuits, 2 crescent rolls, 2 loaves of Sara Lee bread on sale 2 for $4.00, a gallon of milk, some Land of Lakes butter and a rotisserie chicken.

With my coupons I had printed and loaded on my card plus using a $3.00 off milk catalina from a deal last week I bought everything for $11.89. A total savings of$15.58 or 57 percent.

This week for $20.00 I bought 2 cans to Campbells Tomato Soup 2 for $1.00 used my coupon for .40 off 2 which was doubled.1 bottle of Pepsi for .88 used the 25 cent coupon that was tripled Sour Cream Daisy Cottage Cheese used .40 coupon which was doubled.3 Cans of Progresso had $1.00 coupon plus .50 short cut coupon added to my Randalls Card3 Reeses candy 99 cents each buy 2 get 1 free. Had 2 coupons for .55 cents off each.

What's For Dinner Tonight

Even though it is nice to eat out you can get better food and it is so much cheaper at home. Tonight is total comfort food.

We are having Tuna Pasta Salad and biscuits using Bisquick

I make my Tuna Salad the day before we plan to eat so all the flavors can mix. Usually I would put a little celery in it but was none available.

Made the biscuits tonight just 10 minutes before dinner.

Dinner was very tasty and best of all there is plenty of leftovers for another day.

I was reading a post from Pocket Your Dollars . She had shared an article that she read on Wisebread .... 51 Unusual Money-Saving Tips from Readers .
This article is funny at times and some ideas are downright stealing if people really do some of these ideas.
The other article that I found fun to read was A Cheapskate’s Guide to Eating Out My hubby and I practice many of these since our one pleasure and entertainment is eating out.
We try to eat at lunch time and during the week. Ususally we can eat alot cheaper this way.

Randall Grocery Shopping and coupons part of my Twenty Dollar Bill Challenge

Made a trip to Randall's to get few more items while they are doubling and tripling coupons. Wish they would continue doubling , tripling coupons.

I picked up

2 more cans to Campbells Tomato Soup 2 for $1.00 used my coupon for .40 off 2 which was doubled.

1 bottle of Pepsi for .88 used the 25 cent coupon that was tripled

Sour Cream

Daisy Cottage Cheese used .40 coupon which was doubled.

3 Cans of Progresso had $1.00 coupon plus .50 short cut coupon added to my Randalls Card

3 Reeses candy 99 cents each buy 2 get 1 free. Had 2 coupons for .55 cents off each.

Total was $7.58 with total savings of $12.53 at 62 percent savings.

Balance of my twenty dollar bill is $12.42

SAVE $1.00 Off COKE and CHICKEN

While at Krogers last week I spotted a coupon hanging around a coke bottle offering $1.00 off when you buy Rotisserie Chicken and one 2 Liter or 1 6pk of any Coke Cola Product.

I love Randalls Rotisserie Chicken and it is one of the best price out there and we can get 2 to 3 meals out of one chicken.

Word on the Internet is that some one spotted a peelie on Velveeta shells and Cheese offering FREE Barbecue sauce when you buy 2 Shells and Cheese. I have a Internet coupon saving $1.50 off 2 in my coupon pile in case I come across this peelie. I do not know what kind of Barbecue Sauce is offered FREE.
