Garage Sales Estate Sales Auction Houses Looking For Treasures To Resell On eBay

My last posting was on the need to work harder than ever reselling to build up the savings account. What I have learnt from my years of reselling is you need to look in many areas and look often.
Last Thursday night we went to a local auction. We normally do not stay because there is not much we want to buy, but this night we decided to stay. While I did not find any real treasures hiding in boxes I did find a few items to buy and resell. May not be big bucks but my philosophy is Never Under Estimate The Value Of A Small Amount Of Money.
It is late like 10:30 pm and I am tired. I want to go home but we are finally getting to some tables where I may be able to buy something cheap.
Sitting on the table is 3 recipe boxes full of recipes. Recipes typed, written and torn out of the newspapers. I know that I can resell these and putting three together makes it all the better. Check out may link to see how I do. I paid $3.00 for the 3 boxes and at this moment they are bid up to a little over $12.00 and close on Sunday. I have had several looks and a few watchers. I expect and hope they are bid up even more.
While going to garage sales I spotted a few items I hope are resellable on eBay also.
Vintage 4 Syroco wall hangings that go good in Hollywood Regency decorating. I paid a dollar for all 4 which is a steal.
4 LE CREUSET INDIVIDUAL AU GRATIN PANS I found these at a fund raising sale at a high school

Beside these items I have found and bought Batman fabric, a wonderful vintage Folk Art basket and church cookbooks. If interested in seeing any of these items you can go to my eBay page.

I want to thank you for stopping by. Treasures to resell are all around us. Grace

SAVED QUARTER CHALLENGE ~ Time To Get Into Gear

Good morning everyone, this is a picture of my beautiful city from the beach we live near. I love to look at my Lake Superior.
I have to admit I have been a bit of a slacker lately. Not planning my menus like I did in the past. Not posting on my blog as often as I should which is why my numbers are going the wrong way. I have been putting alot of my energy into selling on eBay.
One of my weekly posting was my saved quarter challenge. How did we do on saving money and budgeting what we have.
Well while I may not have saved as much money as we want , we have been busy trying to make money on eBay.
We have been busy going to estate sales and garage sales. Going to auctions and even putting items in the auction house to sell.
Reason is we want to move into a larger apartment end of July and we need to come up with $1,000 for the deposit. We do have a currant deposit on this 400 square foot apartment but can not count on getting that back in time for the new apartment.
So hubby and have been working harder than ever. My goal is to put roughly half of the money made every week into the bank. The other half will be going into the hunting for more treasures envelope.
I started this savings account yesterday with $10.00. We received $29.00 from Amazon. I pulled a twenty dollar bill for the hunting envelope and had hubby deposit $10.00 into savings. $990.00 to go.
We do have a garage sale planned in June. We live on park point and every year there is the big park point garage sale. We will take part and I am hoping to make money for our moving account.
Will give you updates as money goes into our savings account and will share about our new apartment soon.
Will share some of the items I have found in another posting. Thanks for taking the time to read my posting. See you soon. Grace

Thrifty Share Monday ~ Searching Thrift Stores Estate Sales and Garage Sales May 9th

Thrifty Share Monday ~ Searching Thrift Stores,  Estate Sales and Garage Sales .. this is my update of what I have found  over the last week.
The garage sales have started and they are  a fun way to spend some of the weekend. We found some groups of books to put up for auction on ebay. We found several mysteries by Henning Mankell .. Kurt Wallander is the main character . Hubby put these up already and we have a bid. How fun and exciting is that.
I found  several of James Patterson Woman's Murder Club. I want to find one more ( #3) before listing.
While searching some of our thrift stores I spotted some vintage first class Norwest Airlines glasses. Norwest is no more. Delta has bought them so they are a collectible airline item. They are now listed, time will tell if there is any interest in them.
I am busy listing more of my church spiral cookbooks that I bought a while back. Sold my last auction bunch and hope for more success.
Hope that you all had a fun weekend looking for your special deals or out on the thrift store hunts.
If you sell on the internet items you find while searching thrift stores or garage sales, I would love to hear your stories in the comment section.

Have a great day and happy hunting.
I will be sharing this posting at other thirfty sites..

Thrift Share Monday ~ Buying Books At Library Sales

This weekend was a beautiful days. Sunny but cool on Friday, Saturday was rainy but I was going back to the Library for more books so who cared.
There was  Friends of the Library sale that we went to twice. The prices were fantastic and we found bag fulls of books to resell on eBay in book lots.
I bought 10 L Ron Hubbard hard covers  and have them up for auction and have a bid all ready.

Hubby bid and won some great vintage books. Two are of the writings of Thomas Jefferson. These books   are from the early 1800s and were compiled by Thomas Jefferson Randall who was a relative.

I love books and book sales. After owning a used bookstore for over 15 years we are in our glory as we hunt for items to resell. They could be old like the ones my hubby found or just light mysteries that I bought to resell.

I hope that your week is wonderful and that you find time to stop at used bookstore and just look at the beauty of books in print. There is nothing like the feel and smell of used books.
I know the kindle is popular and you can down load tons of books .... BUT it is not the same to a true book lover.
Earlier this week we had stopped in to a small shop and the owner is a book lover of early Americana. You could just see the JOY of the love of books as he shared some of his stories.

Thanks for stopping by.. Grace

MENU PLAN MONDAY 4/25/11

Menu plan monday is one of my favorite posts of the week. I love to plan what we will eat for the week. Makes the rest of the week go smoother. Of course I am flexible and if things happen during the week every thing can change a little.

For this week I have been craving Beef and Green Chili Enchildas so we will start with that today. Left overs will be on Wednesday since we have a family get together on that day during the supper hour. We always go out to lunch on Friday so for that night it is easy just some soup and crackers for me and hubby will add a sandwich.

Beef and Green Chili Enchildas with refried beans
Barb b Que meat balls with potatoes and vegetables
Left over Enchildas and beans
Ham and Scallopped Potatoes and vegetable
Easy dinner soup and sandwiches
Spaghetti and meat balls with garlic bead
Sunday night buffet eating any left overs

I am sharing this over at organizing junkie.. take a peek to what others are cooking.

Hope that you all have a great week. Thanks for stopping by... Lets keep saving together.. Grace

Tip For The Day Display Books and Collectibles With Style

Tip for the day.. rather than just putting your books on your shelf leave some space at the end and use a book end to hold up.. Then place a collectible or photo in that empty space.
Maybe lay some larger books flat and then place a collectible on top of the books.

Show off not only your books but also your collectibles.

Thanks for stopping by.. Grace
